I've been training with Sensei Ramin for about 6mo now and it's been a fantastic time and has helped me in more ways than one. Getting into my mid 30s I realised I was getting far too sedentary, inflexible, and was getting headaches way too often from being generally tense. Since starting training, my flexibility, mobility, and general body condition are the best they've ever been, and I now rarely get headaches. A night and day change; I only wish I could train more often.
Sensei Ramin is great with kids. He's able to instill discipline and respect in a setting that's fun, something that my 5 year old enjoys! Which is not easy to do :) The work ethic my son's developing is much appreciated.
I've been training at the Powerhouse for over a year and I absolutely love training here. I have experienced Karate in other dojos but nothing quite compares to what Sensei Ramin does at the Powerhouse. Training is tailored to each person's level and we receive individual feedback on things to improve, training is fun and well organized. Sensei Ramin is very passionate about Karate and that translates into a fantastic experience for us students, propelling us forward as well. If you're ever curious about martial arts, I would 100% recommend The Powerhouse to you.
Trained here off and on for a couple of years, I personally think it is the best Shotokan karate training in the city. Excellent, supportive instructors and friendly classmates. As a woman, I found the atmosphere incredibly encouraging. If you are looking for an exciting physical and mental challenge, this is it!
Classes are well organized, and teachings delivered professionally in a a very friendly but strict environment. The martial arts spirit is really felt in the air. I always get a great workout, and learn something attending. I am glad having found the Powerhouse. Sensei Ramin makes the serious training fun, which isnt easy.
Highly Recommended for anyone serious about learning an original style
Confidence, assertiveness, focus, body literacy, self-defence, leadership, and friendly competition and sportsmanship--these are the qualities we wanted to encourage in our two girls, ages 4 and 7. We chose the Powerhouse for the Sensei's extensive teaching experience (25+ years) and his Shotokan karate program designed specifically for children. We found this developmentally appropriate program, filled with playful yet purposeful activities mixed with drills, to be a perfect fit for our girls. As a certified elementary education teacher, I appreciate the kind yet firm (not shaming) behavior management used by the Sensei and Senpais. The environment is caring, respectful, constructive, and not too formal. Eight months after joining, my youngest, once cling-to-my-leg shy, stands proudly in front of her classmates to lead them through the student creed. My eldest has found confidence and an ability to lead that I had always hoped for her. My husband and I joined the dojo a few months after our kids. We have never been in such good shape! Though we had little time for a new activity in our busy lives, karate has been an invaluable investment. Our family practices karate at home together, learning from each other and about ourselves as we do so. Joining Powerhouse has been transformative.
The passion Sensei Ramin brings to the table at the Powerhouse is truly admirable. highly recommended!!!
I did a trial and loved it. Great instruction, felt totally welcome, loved the community, and loved having something physical and meditative to focus my mind on after a busy day at work. I sleep great after class. Can't recommend highly enough.
I have been training at The Powerhouse for nearly a decade now. I am proud to say that the quality of training I have received has been phenomenal. If you want to train at a dojo that's professional, extremely high quality, and offers a real sense of community, than look no further.
I am in fourth month of joining The Powerhouse and I am super impressed with the training received so far. This was my first encounter with Martial Arts (Karate) and I really needed to do something with my body, physic and a healthy lifestyle. Sensei Ramin has been amazing instructor and mentor. He is passionate, full of energy, friendly. He listens to your queries and always encourages to do better. He is a patient man, that’s why you would find him training kids and elderly people.
The dojo is full of energy and that is what I like the best. I am still a white belt but I am enjoying this way of life. You may understand the quality of the training by the fact that I am more energetic coming out of the dojo than when I go in.
I am seeing noticeable changes in my physic, flexibility and even mental health.
I will recommend Sensei Ramin and this dojo, always!
