Our Focus
The Powerhouse is a traditional dojo focused on karate in Vancouver, specializing in Shotokan Karate (JKA Karate style).
Good question. Our classes are “age specific”, so we can provide suitable training for students of different ages
4~7 Years. 8~12 years. Teens. and Adults
Not necessarily. You can go with short or long-term programs. There are different options for training. For example, to set black belt as a goal. But we understand, that may not be what everyone has enough time or interest to pursue
Yes we do. Every once in a while we invite all parents to join us and learn how to train with their kids. An experience kids and parents both love.
bout 1/2 of the time we spend with kids is focused on their Fitness and Athleticism. Both mentally and physically, so they will not only grow to be fit and strong but also will be mentally focused and confident. The other 1/2 of our time is spent on Basic Karate techniques. And in the mix, we also cover valuable “life skills” like goal-setting, self-defense, and self-control Parents who have their kids training with us report that their kids show: Improved focus, better fitness, better self-discipline, improved behavior and confidence, as well as self-control
Usually people do. Karate is a wholesome, challenging, and satisfying training system when it comes to fitness, physically AND mentally. Karate training can be quite demanding in fact, fitness-wise. But, keep in mind, that the intensity of our training is totally adjustable, to match your own fitness level. So you can get a good workout, but at the same time you will not be pushed too far beyond your capabilities and comfort zone
Get involved yourself! Kids whose parents train also tend to be a lot more motivated as they learn to accept a lifestyle that includes training (as they follow in your footsteps). By training with us, even if at a minimal level, you will learn everything about our techniques and training systems, and will be able to help your children when they want to practice at home, which is a lot of fun, sharing the experience. (tuition for parents is discounted. To ask for)
We can get you started almost anytime, depending on availability. But the best time would be when we run Promotions when special discounted rates are usually offered
No, you do not. Whether you wish to pursue a black belt or not is up to you. About 1/3 of our students usually pursue a black belt. You do not need to pursue a black belt to set new goals for yourself, improve your lifestyle, train, and get a lot of your training. Pursuing a long-term program is simply an option
